Which watch crystal do I need?

Measure the old crystal, or the case opening, to a tenth of a millimeter with a gauge: the diameter first, then the thickness. Our mineral glass crystals are listed by exactly those two numbers, for example 30.5 x 1.0, so you can order the same size straight from the listing. Flat mineral glass in 1.0, 1.5, 2.0 and 3.0 mm thickness covers most quartz and mechanical watches; low-dome MCT crystals fit vintage and dress cases; Rolex-style generic crystals are listed separately.

Mineral glass, sapphire and acrylic

Mineral glass is the everyday choice: hard enough to resist most scratches and priced at $1.45 each in every size we stock. Sapphire is harder still and used on higher-grade watches, and acrylic is the soft, polishable crystal found on vintage pieces. Match what the watch originally carried so the bezel and gasket seat correctly.

Tools for fitting crystals

A crystal press with the right dies seats a flat or domed crystal without cracking it, and a crystal gauge takes the guesswork out of measuring. Both are in our watch supplies section, alongside gaskets and case openers. Call 800-541-5494 if you want us to confirm a size before you order.
